Why do you think we look for the living among the dead??
(Luke 24:1-12)
Jesus is not in the sin or that sinful person, place or thing.
Jesus blessed and promised us to have life and have it to the fullest, however we can not access that full joy filled life if we continue to look for it in sinful people, places and things.
Jesus shares with us we are meant to be the light in the darkness. (Romans 12) We are only meant to go to those people, places and things if we will add light to that area to draw them out by being an example of Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5)
Jesus went where the sinful people, places and things were, yes! But He went there to be the light that allowed them to see the way out of it. ( The way, truth, life = Jesus John 14:6 ) Are we that light in the darkness or is the darkness consuming and conforming us. (Matthew 5:13-16)
Sin filled people, places and things are no different than drugs, or alcohol if those people, places, and things will cause you to sin then you should not go around them until you are strong enough to withstand temptation. ( James 1 )
In this season with holidays approaching make sure in all of them that you are the light in the darkness a living, breathing vessel in the area allowing Jesus to continue to go into those dark places through you to draw others out. ( Romans 9:16-24)
Do not conform to the ways of the world and end up the darkness too. ( Romans 12 ) A light can not be hidden under a table, Jesus teaches us He sees you no matter what. ( Matthew 5: 13-16 ) So choose this day whom you will serve. (Joshua 24)
Joshua 24:14-15 ESV
Choose Whom You Will Serve
14 “Now therefore fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Jesus wants us to know today, if we choose to serve people, places, and things then we are serving the devil and we have to be ok with that decision when we die or when he comes back to get us.
We also need to be ok with the people in our lives when they die not knowing God when we could have told and showed them God especially the ones He assigned and trust to us like our children, parents, friends, co-workers, classmates, teachers.
No, you can not force them, and no Jesus will not force you. He merely wants you to be the light in the darkness. Then they decide to follow it or not. But if you miss out on your job to be that light to those people then you will have to answer for it. See the story on the talents in (Matthew 25:14-30)
Remember Jesus does not expect you to make them, force them, manipulate them, or control them, or be accountable for them. Otherwise Jesus would be accountable for us not following him, right??
But He does expect you to be the example of Him in their path ( the light ) so that they will get to know Jesus through you and know that they do have a way, truth and life with Jesus if they want it.
